Hey Everyone,
Since 2009 my dear friends Rob Hatch-Miller, Puloma Basu, and I have been making a documentary about the incredible soul singer Syl Johnson. Working with Syl the past four years has been a remarkable experience on so many levels. From sharing his music through the 2010 Grammy-nominated Numero Group box set, Syl Johnson: Complete Mythology; to producing many of his sold out shows all over the country; to gardening with him at "the house that Wu-Tang built!"??? it's been a crazy ride to say the least. Learning about Syl???s life through his songs and his stories creates a unique opportunity for people to consider the history of racial politics in America, the complexities of the music business, and issues of creative ownership and compensation.
We're launching our Kickstarter campaign today and we hope you can help us reach our goal. Thanks to our dedicated friends and volunteers, we've been able to make it over halfway through production on our own personal funds. We're really excited to see this project come to fruition and hope you can help us finish the film so we can share Syl's amazing story with the world.
Thanks in part to so many talented and generous people, we've got t-shirts, tote bags, posters, limited edition art, a DJ mix, Syl's records, music festival passes, and much more as incentives to lend your support.
You can watch our new trailer, get details on the Kickstarter campaign, our team, Syl, and all the awesome swag at:

Here's what else you can do to help: forward that link to your friends and let people know about the project! We are going to be FaceTweeting??? this like crazy so you might as well join us by spreading the word as far and wide as possible. Statistics have shown that having a great first day are crucial to a successful campaign so anything you can do to help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much for taking the time to read this and for helping us make Syl Johnson: Any Way The Wind Blows a reality.
Cheers,
Michael Slaboch
