They were one of my favorite groups. "I Got You", "Six Months In A Leaky Boat", "Dirty Creatures", definitely crafty but never too crafty.

Hah, I just collected in an assignment comparing the Split Enz tracks "I See Red" & "I Hope I Never" from my Y10 class. When I was making the assignment I used this pic on the cover. Definitely the best known Australasian band after Crowded House. When Split Enz were starting out as an acoustic group with flute & violin one of their first gigs out of Auckland was playing before Black Sabbath at a festival in Ngaruawahia, apparently the crowd were not very receptive.

  • Their first 45: For You/Split Ends (73/Vertigo) is full blown psych folk-no joke.

  • Split Enz opened for AC/DC in 1975.Apparently they didn't go over too well with the AC/DC crowd!!???
