Bummer about this, Johnny D from phoenix sent it on to me.Sad news about my friend Ernie Johnson: Ernie Johnson, who with Eddie Campbell performed as Phoenix's fantastic 1960s soul act Eddie and Ernie, died Saturday in a hit and run incident at 16th Street and Broadway Road. Eddie and Ernie played the Apollo Theater and The Animals covered their 1965 song Outcast. A copy of Ernie's rare 1967 record on the local Artco label sold for $1,610 on eBay in 2003. ????????     that fuckin sucks! i used that ernie on Artco on my ISH. beautiful singer with some awesome tunes... his 45 is Top 5 all-time favorite songs in all genres.

    Eddie & Ernie really were as good as higher-profile acts like Sam & Dave. It's not just record-collector snobbery, they really deserved to go farther than they did. It's a shame about Ernie's death - now both members are no longer around.
