Most of us hold a special place in our hearts for this series, so, if you're like me, you have a bit of a personal investment in the future success of Wire alumni.

Obviously a couple have made it pretty big (Elba, Jordan), but after seeing this:

it got me thinking...who has fell off the hardest?

I understand ol Cutty is gettin his paper, but gawd that show is horrible.

Obvious candidate is Snoop, but thats just sad.

He's in that upcoming George Lucas movie, Red Tails (no, it's not a porno), as is Tristan Wilds (aka Michael) and Method Man. The movie is likely to be Lucas schlock, but at least it'll be somewhat high-profile schlock, and I'm guessing Bubs got himself some paper for it.

I don't know what else Bodie is doing, but I had to youtube this the other week after I caught it on TV.

  • that Bubbles thing is just weird.

that man gets real work (I've seen him on Law and Order recently -- BTW almost all Wire characters have appeared at least once on that show).

what he's doing as a non-speaking extra in the back of a fantasy football commercial is beyond me.

based on that picture i don't think dude shares the same sentiment

  • The answer is Lance Reddick. I dare you to go to http://www.lancereddick.com/ and listen to his music.

  • Somebody sure likes Happyhour Casual guy.

  • I don't know but there's money to be made as yet for these guys: cast members of "The Wire" could charge $8000 a pop to show up at white liberal's parties. michael k williams could scoop far more. oh yeah.

It gets pretty good if you press play on all of the songs at once.

Eff the Wire. This is Oz to me.

Oh shit! Alvarez is delivering your pizza! He'll tear your eyeballs out! Oh fuck! Keller is your lawyer. Don't go into chambers with him! He'll rape your ass off! And Schillinger, fuck if he should be anybody's shop teacher!

Okay, then there's O'Reilly getting dragged by cars and shit. That's kinda in step actually.

Technically not a fall off, because this ad dates to sometime between season 3 and 4, and Levy appears in every season. Apparently Levy's beef fascination extends beyond brisket at the Levy family preserve on a Friday night.

Michael Kostroff talked about this commercial when he popped up in a blog comment thread:

a national Wendy's commercial would pay approximately one gabillion times more than an episode of "The Wire." Now that's a rough figure, obviously. It might be 1.2 gabillion. You get the point.

Pay for commercials is a complicated thing, based on how many times the thing runs, how many markets it runs in, what time of day, what channels, etc. It's far more complicated than it is interesting. But potentially, a primetime national network commercial that runs can buy you a house. Pay on HBO shows, on the other hand, is notoriously low, and no one cares. I'd work for them any day of the week.

He also offered up this funny little nugget:

As for the term "eyefuck," a little behind-the-scenes tidbit: Use of the term wasn't limited to dialogue. It was also all over our "stage directions" (descriptions of the action provided in the script), as in "Marlo eyefucks Herc as he passes."

He sounds like John Lucien's younger brother Chad who studied music at Harvard on a fencing scholarship.

i hate to say anyone "fell off" from the wire, because goddamn it's just a show, that as cited above, probably didn't pay all that well. so i guess if "falling off" means going from guy who makes beats in his basement for a message board to guy who gets paid to make beats for jay-z (ok maybe more like asher roth or something), then yeah some people have fallen off.

    WHAT UP RANDY?

I would think having a bobblehead made after your image is the polar opposite of falling off.
