yes i realize there were cream of the crop session cats from stepney's chess/cadet stable but at times they sounded like hacks on acid-in a great way

    One of the first posts in the flute thread is a 45 with funk drums and a horrible flute player.

    Port Authority Navy Band

    Aposento Alto, the horns are often out of tune and other sloppiness abounds.

    Lots and lots of great high school band records.

    Those early Richard Carpenters Trio video clips. The players are good, just not good at funk, but the end results are cool.

  • To my ears, the ultimate example of this is the Salt, Hung Up 45.
    The intro is so crazy banging that you easily overlook just
    how godawful the song is. During the turnaround
    the whole band basically falls apart.
    White boys doing funk often bears this hallmark.
