When talking about Hip-Hop or any of the countless genres it has influenced, it???s all about the beats. Even after a producer loops ???Amen Brother??? for the millionth time, it will always be about the beats. They???re the foundation of Hip-Hop, and the defining characteristic of any artist or genre claiming Hip-Hop as inspiration. And at FACE MELT, they???re the only thing that matters.

As if he???s already plotting to bring an MPC to his cousin???s quincea??era, Maker explains the underlying motivations of FACE MELT as ???a gathering of different styles, cultures, and scenes that are all related??? It???s like a family reunion but with hard ass drums.??? Simple enough concept but reading between the lines, you may want to consider ear plugs!

Tony Trimm enjoys listening to Mogwai, Pelican and Tortoise. Originally from DesPlaines, he has lived in Chicago for the past 8 years. He used to skateboard but now he prefers a vintage Scotch. His other current interests include: spinning Krunk music, long slow movies, Mad Men and studying Kung Fu. He is currently a green/gold sash in Seven Star Praying Mantis. He uses analog synthesizers, midi controllers, a laptop and an oscilloscope for live sets.

Tony Trimm is a man of many side projects. He???s a producer for Serengeti, Yoome and a handful of other ventures that he is not yet allowed to reveal. He is currently set to release his solo project by the spring. He has toured with Serengeti and travelled the U.S. with bands such as WHY? and Deerhoof. He???s collaborated with his good buddies, Jeff Parker of Tortoise, Owen Ashworth (Casiotone for the Painfully Alone), Bryan Herweg of Pelican, and Josiah Wolf of WHY?

Speech Language Pathologist by day, Producer by night, Phonetics has found a way to seamlessly combine his music and profession to create a rounded palette for encouraging expression. His performance is a combination of wax, synth, and heavy MPC live pad drumming. In general, there is urge to call his music ???Sampledelics.??? His recent collaborations include Othello of Lightheaded, Kid Static, RacecaR, Green Llamas, Bad Wolff and Abstract Giants.
