Been trying to find something simple online and not having any luck, any of y'all got a sample or something? Dude who wants to use one of my tracks for a promo video for his company wants a contract of some sort.

Can't he provide the contract? He wants to license the track from you, after all. If you'd pitched it, that would be a different matter, but if he's driving the deal, he ought to have sent you a deal proposal at the very least. Presuming you're not the first act he's ever licensed music from, he ought to have a standard contract too. As it is, it appears he's expecting you to bear the cost of drafting an agreement (which would eat into whatever money you'd be making from the deal) which is a bit cheeky to me.

  • it's a bit like "how long is a piece of string", there are lots of variables involved and there isn't really a generic one-for-all contract. like doc says he should lay out his terms in the contract because that's his responsibility as the licensee
