Does Maureen Tucker fits in there? Or is she part of the Tea Party Art Rock movement?
Drummers don't count.
Im a big VU fan, but calling Mo a drummer is a stretch
She has one real talent as a drummer - she can play at the exact same tempo no matter how long the song goes on. I have almost 30 VU boots and on virtually every epic Sister Ray or What Goes On etc she keeps it the same from beginning to end (I spent an hour or so checking it out one night).
I can think of several well regarded drummers who can't do this.
There were a slew of Republican and right wing folk records. I have a bunch or 45s from some women who was fairly famous, and when I googled her a number of years ago she was still active. Can't remember the name. Modeled herself after Joan Baez.
