Just discovered grooveshark and it has many features that are better than spotify, but spotify is much more polished.

Grooveshark pros:
bigger library
upload your own music
no software necessary
joining/becoming a member not necessary
if you share a song (on facebook for example), anyone can hear it, not just members

Cons:
inconsistent file quality
multiple files for the same songs
less music recommendations and bios

I'd prefer not to link my account to Facebook, but is there any other way of finding people?

The FAQ says you can just search people by username but I don't even see a search field for people.

In the search field type:

Spotify:user:djotisfunkmeyer

You can also do interesting search strings like:

Genre:soul year:1965-1975
