In the 80s because Columbia wouldn't release his records Bill Withers put them on other peoples records.
In The Name Of Love Ralph McDonald Universal Rhythm
Just The Two Of Us Grover Washington Winelight

And what others?

I can think of a couple of 70s albums that Bill appeared on:

Isley Brothers - Givin' It Back (Bill plays acoustic rhythm guitar on "Cold Bologna")
Bobby Womack - I Don't Know What The World Is Coming To (Bill sings w/Bobby on "It's All Over Now")

    Just the 80's?

    Besides the Ralph McDonald/Grover stuff:
    Don Henley "I Can't Stand Still" 1982
The Crusaders "Rhapsody & Blues" 1980
He was on some Gladys Knight stuff too IIRC but that was older.

This, I didn't know. What was he doing? Guest vocal, background singing?

I know this album from an old bandmate who was big on Henley. It has a whole heap of NY-LA session dudes on it IIRC, like Jeff Porcaro and Steve Lukather and I remember Bill was one of the other names I knew. I don't have it myself.

I was thinking of guest spots where he could record songs that Columbia wasn't releasing.

But this is even better. I'd like to see all his studio work. And I am putting on Rhapsody and Blues right now.
