Burn the Health Insurance companies to the ground...they are worthless

last year I was sent to the Hospital from work. I had the "Cadillac" health insurance plan...best my employer offered. Paid my deductible. 3 months later I lost my insurance after being bumped down back to part time. Part time employees cannot have any benefits. So today, I open the mail and find a bill for $2,400 for my hospital visit. Insurance never paid my claim because I lost my coverage, even though I was covered at the time of the visit. So the thousands of dollars of premiums I paid went to nothing. Not a fucking thing. Insurance is a joke. I basically gave away a shit ton of money to Blue Cross for absolutely NOTHING. They did not cover ONE FUCKING THING even though I had the best plan they offered. Fuck them.

The sad truth is that these companies rely on people not acting on their anger, or worse, being too ignorant to.
Shove it right back up their ass and they will relent and do the right thing.
:Let them know you know what's up and insist they pay the claim....they'll throw 3 different levels of hurdle at you....don't flinch and just steamroll them back.....sucks that this is how it needs to be done, if your dates are square I guarantee you it works.
Seriously, don't give up this easily - this is just standard insurance company BS. They're just hoping you'll roll over.
I broke my wrist bike messengering and was entitled to disability. Guess what? They didn't show up at my door and shove cash in my hand. I had to hassle them for it, but when I dropped the hammer they gave me all six weeks they owed me on the spot.
My brother's wife works for a doctor's office and fights with these bastards every day.
My suggestion in this thread is simply to be assertive and don't allow yourself to be taken advantage of......I've had to use this tact, successfully I might add, when dealing with every type of business imagineable from the Power Co. to an Auto Mechanic.
In my experience the most difficult of all entities to deal with and get satisfaction from is a government agency.
wow, zing.
You not only sound like an asshole, you are. I hope you get mugged and raped on your way home from somewhere soon. Yes, I mean that you shit-breathing troll. Go die a horrible death. I hope you get AIDS when you get raped and your AIDS somehow develops cancer.
At least I'll be insured.
no you will be dropped for running up to high of a bill.
Seriously, you are one of the few people in the world I really want to kick in the teeth.

Dude, shut the fuck up. I had things like rent to still pay with half the salary...how does one afford COBRA when it is twice as much as the original premiums and is the only option when your salary has been cut in half? Lets see, COBRA was $486 a month and my pay was half as much as when my premiums were $288 a month at full pay. Good thinking. You are a real wizard.
I havent spent $486 total on records this year...not even close.
I am now insured again, but not with those bloodsuckers Blue Cross.
b/w
I just made a partial payment to my clinic yesterday, along with a note saying there's no way I'm paying the additional, excessive amount they've charged me for a 15 second procedure I had that they've classified as a "surgery".
I called them this morning and spent an hour on the phone with a ???claims specialist???, his manager and the claims supervisor. The ???claims specialist??? had the balls to ask me ???How do we even know this accident actually happened???. My response was a police report, witnesses and the video camera that was at the intersection. The bottom line is these folks are trained to stall, lie, intimidate and do whatever it takes to not pay a claim. Their scam is that if they stonewall me long enough I???ll just make the claim with my company and pay the deductible. I told them I knew what their game was and I wasn???t going away and mentioned the Texas Insurance Commission a few times.. I just kept on asking to speak to someone higher up and by the time I made it to dude #3 he was ready to take care of me. Gave me a claim # to go to the repair shop with and an apology for the runaround. I???m pretty sure most people would have given up???.which is what they want.
Last year I had a similar ordeal with my electric company. They came out and replaced my meter and 2 months later my bill doubled. When I called they assured me it was accurate. I eventually spoke to enough people to find out that A) They were estimating my bill based on past use and B) Had me down as having TWO meters as they never removed the one they replaced off my account. Those who don???t put up a fight and stand up for their rights get taken advantage of???.on many different levels by many different entities.
Don't get discouraged and don't get pissed....get even.
E...forget calling them....do what I suggested earlier....get your place of employment to give you a notarized letter stating what day you went Part-Time and submit that, with the invoice, to both the Insurance Company and the Doctor/Hospital. Send them registered mail with a note stating that there was obviously an oversight and that you will not be paying the bill.
I suppose a copy of the certificate of coverage Blue Cross sent me after I lost my coverage would be a good thing to send as well? It said I was covered until December 31, 2010, which is when my coverage was suspended...the date of service at the hospital was August 30, 2010. That should help me in my burden of proof, no?
If you can't get through to customer "service" or billing, go on line and find a corporate HQ (TN) phone number and keep trying to find someone above the person you just talked to.
I concur. Get your paperwork together and be persistent. You're in the right.
The receptionist told me to give false details to avoid a thousand dollar bill, dudes were cussing out other dudes, cops everywhere, doctors standing around shooting the shit and I saw 3 nurses before I saw a doctor. People had been there for over 6 hours, it was like a zoo, shit was crazy.
Some dude in the pharmacy was yelling 'Fuck white people' at me (then apologizing) cause I got my script before him, dude threw all his bags and shit at the pharmacist.
They need a Business efficiency consultant up in there stat.
Please know that the majority of our country is not like this.
Damn, what hospital were you in? I've had cause to visit quite a few hospitals in my time here, and I've occasionally encountered some craziness, but nothing approaching what you described.
u need not ask this, u know it is what's required!
I used to work in insurance claims and really know the deal. It's an industry without much of a moral compass......and, yes, the dollar reigns supreme.
Having the certificate stating your coverage, like you have said, should be undeniable proof, and absolutely no excuse for them would be acceptable!
patience IS the key, so just stick to your guns!
good luck with seeing this sorted without too much further delay
My insurance also claimed taking out my appendix was not an emergency, so I shouldn't had gone to the emergency room.
Fuckers. I had to fight and negotiate with my insurance provider for days on the phone about getting my bill lowered.
I had write a letter to them stating the facts. Utter bullshit. Fight for your right is all I can say.
