I say I Zimbra by the Talking Heads. It is not even a language just nonsensicle Dadaist poem lyrics.

For me it will always be the first track off Vincebus Eruptum....hearing it for the first time in '68 was a mindblower.
The fact that it was a hit doesn't diminish it's raw power.
I'll also add Smells Like Teen Spirit. We've all heard that one, so I'm not posting a link.
i, bongo player.
Might I add BOCs "The Red and the Black"
Sleep "Dragonaut" or maybe Stooges "Search and Destroy"?
Also, great left field song choice.
Dk's - California Uber Alles
Cro-Mags - We Gotta know
Motorhead - Motorhead / Ace Of Spades
Fugazi - Turnover
Helmet - In The Meantime
Run DMC - Runs House
ok, so the whole side 1 is the opening track, but what an opening and what a scream!
not the first track on the LP...the LP's first track is a cover of Ted Taylor's "Ramblin' rose". KOTJ is the 2nd song.
I just copped this about a month ago, a solid side-long listen.
woops, was wondering why it wasn't in this thread
Best first song ever is Sly & The Family Stone's "Underdog," but that's not really a rock record.
So, I'd say "Foxy Lady." It's as heavy and as immediate as anything in this thread, with the added benefit of being not so fucking chaste. Considering that it's very much The American Way to be much more comfortable with the implication of violence than with the implication of sex, leading off with something as erotic--both literally and sonically--as "Foxy Lady" seems to me far more edgy and adventurous than leading off with some angry and/or doomy shit whose balls are mostly just for display purposes.
thats a good call.
any one of these three
-
maybe, My Bloody Valentine - Only Shallow
or, Public Image Ltd - albatross
Neu - Hallogallo
