Mandrill - Mandrill - first track on the their first album Mandrill (like Black Sabbath and Kool and the Gang, all first tracks on first albums).
Several years ago I posted a more narrow question about s/t albums with s/t tracks (can't remember if I wanted them to be first tracks, first albums too). There was at least one more like that but I can't remember.
Fo some reason, i assumed there would be more Prog & Fusion on this list.
Seems very "conceptual" to write a song about the name of your band...or name your band after one of your songs....whichever is more heady.

"Blo" by Blo
The song came first by a couple of years.
Ballad of Railroad Jerk
All those Talkin' Bob Dylans
Monkees Theme
"The Funky Cypress Hill Shit" - Cypress Hill
Robert Zimmerman by Bob Dylan would be cool.
First time I noticed something like this was when I first heard the Wild Tchopitoulas.
Already covered.
There's also "Steve Forbert's Midsummer Night's Toast."
Good one, I didn't think of those.
Not sure if this should count
And does it count if the band named themselves after someone else's song?
