Once Popular Artists/Bands That No One Likes

Over the last 50 years what band or artist sold millions of records but now you can't find a single person that will ride for them.
My first thought was John Denver but I was reminded of two local women who STILL go to Record Shows looking for rare releases by him and Bobby Goldsboro!
So my vote goes to a band that sold millions of records.....had numerous #1 hits......and were compared to the Beatles*.

I know of NO ONE who rides for them in 2011
* VeeJay did release an LP titled "The Beatles Vs. The Four Seasons"

Disconnected from the local white experience.
In the past few years there was a successful musical based on them, Jersey Boys, and a relatively faithful rap cover of one of their songs was a big hit internationally ("Beggin'").
I must be......I grew up in the land of Valli....Brooklyn.....the first record I ever bought was "Sherry".......every Italian dude I knew in the 60's could sing everyone of their hits.......but I have not met anyone in the last 25 years that are into this band and their long list of hits.

At this point, the Sweet, Glitter and Stardust are more likely to get hipster-kissed than Englebert Humperdinck.
Glam-rock travels farther than a semi-forgotten lounge singer.
She's still a huge star.
If she played a concert at Carnegie Hall tickets would be scalping for a thousand or more.
FWIW they are still a big live draw, and the singer is now one of the biggest stars in contemporary Country music.
