I dug this 45 so much that I contacted Lonnie last night to let him know....apparently this is his only release although he's done back up vocals for a few artists.
If there was a full unreleased LP of stuff like this is there a label out there that might be interested??

Classic Rock, one day he's wondering who a dude is and the next day he's in touch with him.
I could see Daptone being interested, for one, but I'm not sure how heavy into the reissue game they want to be.

It just blew my mind that there was virtually no info on this guy other than this 45 release,,,,just wanted him to know someone was still digging it 37 years later.
He was easy to find......really not much effort on my part.
Nice.
Major label release.
Willie Mitchel in full effect.
Denise La Salle who is/was very successful as a songwriter and talent scout.
I have an early 80s independent rap 12" that she was involved in.

James Mitchell = Willie Mitchell?
I think he means the sound. It sounds like an Al Green outtake.
It does, it must be the Hodges brothers.
I see that James is Willie's brother.
HAha. I heard it. I saw LaSalle, I saw Mitchell, I made the connection and failed to see it was James.
Willie did 2 lps with Denise LaSalle.
James is Willie's brother?
Perhaps Willie used James as a front for contract reasons? Or James was a great producer too?
According to some googling I just did, he was an arranger/saxophonist. He worked on a ton of Hi stuff, among other things.
Perhaps they were the same person?
