    I've passed on a few iceberg slim spoken word albums in the past - I think there's two of em - are they worth copping?

    I was always a fan of Lord Buckley and Ken Nordine.



    Listening to this, I always thought that it was this performance and the performance of Johnathan Winters that influenced Robin Williams.

    very good thread.. I kinda dig the Iceberg Slim though.

    this is a gruelling listen in one sitting but interesting in doses.

    I put this up on waxidermy but had to remove it because of all the white power nazi comments it was attracting!

    I've got the Instant Insanity Drugs one.

    You might be interested in this (it's only out on CD though). Its a profile of the whole scene and has input from Timothy Leary, Aldous Huxley, J.G. Ballard, Kenneth Anger, Brian Aldiss, Ken Kesey, Martin A. Lee, Philip K. Dick, G. Gordon Liddy, William Gibson, Bruce Stirling, Lawrence Sutin, William Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg, Tom Disch, and H.R. Giger

    Its got that line "You've head about, you've read about it, but have you ever seen a psychedelic circus... those innocent fun games of the hallucination generation.." - always wondered what record that came from.

    One of my favorites. This is one of the most depressing listens you could possibly imagine and the idea that it would be listened to by anxious or depressed people is unreal. The type of record that could amplify any neurosis.
