Yesterday I found at a flea market a total obscure local private pressing compilation of no wave music from the early 80s.
All the bands are from a small town called Schwandorf, which is located in the most imaginable rural area of Bavaria.
The label it was released on is called "No Wave Records". I contains totally silly liner notes by the chief administrative officer of the rural district and the record was sponsored by the local provident bank. All the artist, the label and the actual release is totally ungooglable. The only thing you can find is my discogs listing:
http://www.discogs.com/Various-Sad-Rock-1/release/2790842

It boggles my mind how scene like this could exist in a rural smalltown in the middle of nowhere of bavaria in the early 80s.
Some of them arn t bad at all. I don`t have much knowledge about this kind of music at all and have a hard time judging the quality of it.
Take a listen and tell me what you think about it:

Thanks for posting but none of this music is no wave. The first band comes the closest tho.

I hear some Echo and The Bunnymen in some of the influences which is kind of cool. That said, it's a nice little rarity you found.

I guess the label name fooled me. What is it then? New Wave? Punk Rock?

Yes, I would say that is closer to an accurate description. However, what I find interesting is that none of these songs are boilerplate new wave, or punk. It's kind of like a mish mash of all those sounds.

    ONLY 4 is the punkiest.
Cheyne Walk's Flying High is on some lost late 60's, early 70's rural rock trip which would find a lot of love on the Waxidermy.
(Btw u have flying high mis-coded as moonlight dancer)

The Clinch shows the Echo and the Bunnymen influence I was speaking of. Even shades of early CULT.

Rattle Gang is pretty weak rockabilly/pub rock.

Brosco is more pub rock however everbody's profession throws in some jazz stylings ?

Overall, a weird batch of songs.

Yeah, I wouldn't call it No Wave either. Sounds like a local "talent" comp of varying early 80's sounds. First band had a post punk sound, second band was punky/post punk, Rattle Gang had a power pop-ish sound...some other bands sounded straight bar band/rock to my ears. Nothing really kicked ass imo.

Thanks for listening to this stuff. Just listened to Bunnymen and I can hear the similarities.Spot on!
Tomorrow I'll post a scan of the cover.
