Went to Cheltenham Horse Races yesterday for the first time.

Bet ??120 in total and won ??80 over all, so I'm 40 quid down... still, had a blast.

Any strutters ever won a schittload of money from betting and/or some kind of gambling / lottery win ?

Been to the gee-gees a few times, someone always has a tip for the first race, my advice is to go with that tip. Been a few hundred up at that point and lost a chunk on tips on later races. Next time, I am stopping after the first 3 races if I am up and getting bollocksed on the proceeds.

Was playing the slots in Vegas and dropped a jackpot. All the lights and bells went off, I was expecting it to pay for the wedding but it was 5,000 x value of what you'd gambled - I was playing for nickels so it was only $250. Paid for a slap-up meal and yags doe (top of the Stratosphere).

I must be due a lottery win soon.

i've brought home near a thousand from a day at the track, i had bachelor party luck on my side. but based on the money i have lost there in the past, can't really call it "winnings" (DUH)

I won a cake a few years ago. A deodorant bottle last year.

Like Jimster said, "must be due to a lottery win soon"...

Depends on what a "schittload" comprises. The only time I played poker in a casino I ended up a little over $200 in the black, not a schittload in reality, but to me at the time it was. And I've hit a vid poker machine for the royal flush jackpot a few times, $400 a pop there.

I go to the local ponies occasionally, but I started betting on Triple Crown races 2 years ago through Twinspires.com and am 5 for 6 for the win. I find the races really exciting, but am too afraid to bet on other things like card games. I have a very short attention span when it comes to that

  • we used to hit the track here almost weekly on sundays with a few other couples, but the trip was mainly for the social aspect of having drinks and talking over the actual gambling. i DID however win $1200 on last years queen's plate picking win/place/show without a box. :beerbang:

also, i won $1500 playing WAR [yes, that one] at one of the casino's nearby.

Start your readups yet for this year? Uncle Mo is the early chalk.

I do alright with the bets.
