    Got my king cake from Haydel's delivered last week.

    Turducken this weekend.

    Had all-you-can-eat gumbo at Nubian Queen Lo La's on Friday...



    Then made a catfish gumbo on Saturday...



    And then made a chicken and sausage gumbo on Sunday...

    I don't fusk with catfish gumbo but the above looks like heaven.

    Happy Mardi Gras y'all!

    damn, i'm exhausted... partied hard from last Tuesday until 7 last night--that might seem tame, but i had been up until 7am the night before, then woke up at 10am and immediately started drinking again to this outside my front door:



    St. Anne's--a marching parade open to anyone that meets a block away from my house and then marches all the way to Canal St. everyone's in costume, many of which are truly amazing and beautiful.

    Fat Tuesday is my favorite day of the year, BY FAR. i know this is often a cliched thing to say, but it's really something you have to experience to understand. if you're ever here for it, lemme know, i'll drop suggestions to do it right!
