Been trying to do this tune justice (I mean playing to it on bass in a way I don't hate) and been collecting a few takes on this. BTW the board software strips apostrophes out of thread titles...
Do you know what, I think it's my favourite Herbie tune - that turnaround is incredible. I have not gotten tired of it since, like, forever.
Anyways, I got me covers by the following artists, anyone else have a version by someone not listed here?
Jamey Aebersold - Vol 11 ??? (Herbie Hancock)
Ahmad Jamal
Al Haig, Jimmy Raney
Anthony Braxton
Bill Evans
Brian Bromberg
Bunny Brunel
Carlos Kanno
Chano Dominguez Trio
Chet Baker with Danish Big Band
Christian Mcbride, Nicholas Payton & Mark Whitfield
Dario Galante, Augusto Mattoso, Rafael Barata
Ettore Carucci Trio
Eugene Pao & Mads Vinding Trio
Grover Washington Jr.
Herbie Hancock x 3 versions
Jaco Pastorius (Bootleg)
Jason Rebello
Jazz Jamaica Allstars
Joey Calderazzo
Kazumi Watanabe
Kenny Werner x 2 versions
Manhattan Trinity + 1
Peace
Ron Carter, Herbie Hancock, Tony Williams
Soul Bossa Trio
Toots Thielemans & Kenny Werner
Tubby Hayes (this is a shit rip with more jumps than Bob Beamon)

Yes please for the Dalton and McKinney?

McKinney (for some reason they sing "A Love Supreme..." like on the Coltrane tune but hey it works)
I mean, they are all nice, but some stand out:
The Peace one is mad and messy
The Bromberg one (off "Wood") is a killer.
The Carlos Kanno one has a really nice twist to it.
The Jazz Jamaica one is not annoying (shock!)
The Jaco bootleg is listenable (even the sound of the snare getting rattled by the bass amp - the stage must have been stamp-sized)
Most can be found in the wild on slsk or from v??ritable t??tes.
