Leroy Hutson: All Because of You (bad 45 edit?)

I finally copped "All Because of You" on 7" but in the middle of digitizing, I thought the record skipped.

Listen around 1:53

I went back and carefully tracked the stylus - no skip. So I flipped it around to the mono side and it's the same "skip". It occurs to me that since the original LP version is twice the length, they edited this down to half the size but did a super sloppy job?

Or did I just get some bad pressing?

Interesting. It's relatively on tempo, just super sloppy. With a movement so far ahead, I think you would see the needle move if it was a skip and the chances of it being in tempo/a continuation would be slim. Bad edit.

Sounds like a bad job of splicing the tape together. Doesn't sound like a skip to me.

Someone was trying to punch out early that day. And to go from vocals to a string arrangement was just a bad editing choice overall.

Still a great [del]record[/del] song though!!

That sounds awful. I don't think I've ever heard such an audibly sloppy edit.

Yeah, right? No wonder this 7" goes cheaply!

  • My favorite Hutson song! That edit makes me want to jump out of a window.
