Quick apogee duet question

Can I rig this as a simple 2-channel mixer with the following:
Input 1: A mic connected via XLR (Duet)
Input 2: Audio source (cordless phone) connected via 3.5mm female --> 1/4 stereo jack --> Instrument plug (Duet)
...and then balance the inputs via the jog wheel?
