Wow, Detroit is a real shit hole. I heard a rumor that every abandoned building is filled with rare soul 45s. Is it true? Should I come for teh records?

they're all in the second floor bedroom top right - go get 'em.
The trend in Detroit now is to be salty about the outsiders coming in and exploiting the city with 'ruin porn'. lol. You can't go by an abandoned building without running into a Dutch photographer, or an arteest from San Francisco.

Thanks for sharing, Tabira. I just messaged the link to my friend who is doing Teach for America in Detroit.
glad it was of some use. Pretty strange don't you think to abandon a police precinct without removing the suspect/victim files first?
In the article accompanying the photos, the author describes some of the abandonment as seemingly apocalyptic, like some disaster hit Downtown Detroit and people just up and disappeared. Some of the photos of schools and libraries are downright depressing. I can't help but imagine myself stealing books and photos to keep for myself as remnants of a once surviving, if not thriving, part of Detroit, if I ever were to visit one of those sites. It's not like they have the money do a thorough archiving project before they bulldoze those structures. Like the authors said, it's as if Americans are unaware of their own architectural history, letting it rot away like that.

b/w Detroit firefighter parties are WILD. My dad was on the DFD for 30 years, so I've been to my share of 'em.

My girl was born in Inkster but didn't grow up there so she's always interested in her birthplace.
Thanks for posting.
