Help Obtaining Master Use Rights

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone had any advice or tips for obtaining Master Use Rights for rare R&B, funk and soul records. Many of the original record labels were bought out by bigger companies that I am unaware of, are no longer in business or do not have any public contact information.
These records will be used in a compilation CD released by an independent label.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
