Money In Politics

I am glad to say I didn't waste any money on this last election.
Sometimes I feel compelled to support a candidate financially, but I hate doing it.

Here are some #s from the last election:
Meg Whitman spent $140 million of her own cash, equivalent to about $45 a vote.

The 2010 election saw a record $4 billion in spending by candidates and political parties, plus a wave of new spending by outside political entities on the right and left.
Enough money to balance the budget! (OK, not really, but still...)

Where I live, for the first time I can think of, there were lots of tv commercials for the Metro president race. (Metro is like a 3 county government.)

We also had Chris Dudley (yes the NBA center) running for Governor. Not sure how much of his own money he spent.

In West Virginia, Republican John Raese spent $4.6 million on his Senate campaign???$20 a vote???but lost his Senate race by 10 points.

Republican Linda McMahon, the former World Wrestling Entertainment CEO, who spent $46 million of her own money on the Connecticut Senate race, or about $96 for every general-election vote she won.

To me, these rich people wasting money, trying to buy themselves into office, is proof that they are not taxed enough
