Texas Prison System (RR)

For about 8-10 years the Texas Prison in Huntsville released an LP to be sold at the Prison Rodeo.
This one seems to be the hardest to find.
Someone needs to do a comp with all the best cuts.

    I thought a comp was in the works at a SoulStrut favorite label...seems quite difficult to license properly though given the circumstances.

    Tthese records are such interesting parts of Texas history. I have a couple of them, soul collectors don't sleep on the one with a few nice sweet soul tunes.

    Is there a makeshift or officlal recording studio on the premises?

    Are they allowed to leave to record? Is it dirty? Or is it sent to get mastered by locals.

    Not sure how these Prison Rodeo LP's were recorded but they are from Huntsville which houses high security and death row prisoners so I doubt they are allowed off-site.

    I have a friend who is doing life in a Federal prison down here in Texas and he's in the prison rock band called Free Wine.

    They have better equipment than most local bands and a state of the art recording studio on the premises.
