Old Man Beats (boom-bap samples etc)

It seems that with the innerwebs and the massive variety of music to choose from, it gets harder and harder to find producers that I can depend on to release something that's buy-on-sight. One thing I buy less and less of these days is decent boom-bap. The wonky scene is often too wonky for me. I want it to sound fresh, yeah, but not so far removed from a real drumkit that I can't bump to it.
Who's really knocking without over-compressing?
I love the first half of this

Was the by-product of a ??5 charity-shop beat-making challenge that was held on the Ninja Tune forum (inspired by that Second Hand Sure Shots vid with J.Rocc/Daedalus/and others).
Goes a bit crazy with the echos and shit after a while, but I love the opening. Betta Believe!
