Herbie on Rhodes...

... not really, just me doing my best to imitate him - I transcribed a solo from the videos of him playing live at Chelsea College in 1979. Hope you enjoy it, constructive criticism welcome!

    That was dope. Are you playing in a band or just doing it in private for yourself?

    I play in several bands around Cambridge UK, but I don't use my Rhodes for gigs right now - I've got a Nord Stage which is pretty nice. I used to gig with the Rhodes but it's such an amazing example that I'll try and find a second one to gig with instead. The youtube videos are more for fun really, and to record transcriptions that I do.
    As for the air bass, you try and sit still listening to that break - there's no way I can do it without a bit of air bass

    Hehe - yeah, Dan is a great mate of mine. I took this Rhodes up to his house in the summer and he helped me work on it - he worked his magic and it sounds amazing. Dan is a monster man, you should hear him play his B3 too!
