    sturutters helpin a bra out

    from Guzzo:

The Tokyo Happy Coats Live (King)...cool, the songs on my 45 arent on the LP...thanks dude!

    from Agent 45

Joanne Gayles "dont shake my tree"--the dealer finally delivers the crack... Agent turned me on to this tune on a mix he sent me almost 3 years ago, and he finally got another copy to slang

    from Shingaling

    Ella Washington "Sweet and Sweeter"
Ella Washington "Sweet talkin candy man"
Titus Turner "taking care of business"

    thank ya!

What do you think of Ancient Leaves?

  • parsecparsec 5,087 Posts
I like it,sounds good. Have you heard Heldon? It kinda reminds me of that. Check out Heldon IV "aural explorer". Its the one with the kid on the cover in the hospital with a bunch of wires hooked up to him. Shits rad. Mellotron and moogs galore. Oh and that Morgen lp is a monster btw.

    Have you heard Heldon?

    No, but I think I've seen it/they're/his/ her's records...

  • parsecparsec 5,087 Posts
Heldon is pretty much Richard Pinhas and a revolving group of players as far as I can tell. You heard Tonto's Expanding Headband Crink? Cooler music than their horrible band name implies.

  • hcrinkhcrink 8,729 Posts
yeah that Tonto is cool. I was ascared of it for a long time.

DollarBinCommons on the Lunch Break Tip (well, all $2-4):

yo, this record is good! I passed it over like 4,203 times before...they do mostly covers, but the playing is tight, vocals (specially the female ones) are legit, and the production is prolly the best thing, bass & drums way up in tha mix, heavy use of B3, tight, tight sound that had my head noddin' the whole time.

"funky" jam band record, has it's moments (a couple of Stevie wanna-be uptempo tracks are on point) but huge stretches are

another mostly tepid one...Steve Cropper's name is all over this, as co-producer with Swamp Dogg, songwriter, and lead guitar on most tracks...mostly unexceptional Southern Rock...someone wrote "dope jam side 2" in ballpoint pen on the back cover, but I can't figure which one they mean, maybe "Back Porch of My Mind" that has a tough breakdown and spacy organs...honestly, not a bad record, just had higher hopes for a Swamp Dogg-Steve Cropper produced 1972 small label LP...worth the $3 I spent, I guess...

I always want to like The Nice, but...

I got it for the cover of Tim Hardin's "How Can We Hang On To a Dream," but my obsessive collecting of Tim Hardin covers is probably best kept to myself...
only $1, tho, and better than the one in this photo, although the auction this is from, the winning bid was 1 cent! I want 1 cent records!

havent had loot to buy some wax for a while but went on monday and got these:

plunky and the oneness of juju "make a change"
    universal jones "vol.1"
    curtis mayfield "sweet exorcist"
    mandrill "just outside of town"

the plunky has that track "every way but loose" which was a top 30 hit in the UK when it came out. i guess its been rereleased on Sutra as a single. pretty dope. the whole album is nice, but thats the standout track, i think.
