no particular order, nor all of 'em, just thinking about bad ass guitar solos and wanted to see what the strut favoredJimi Hendrix "Machine Gun" (OG BOG LP) (the crazy sustain parts, since the song itself is essentialy a guitar solo)Harvey Mandel "Cha Cha the Blues" (Charley Musslewhite's South Side Band LP)Jimmy Page "Je N'Attends Plus Personne" (Francoise Hardy's S/T from 1964)Frank Zappa "Zombie Woof" (not a huge FZ fan, but damn this solo is killer)Grant Green "The Matador" (the epitomy of smooth control)Toni Iommi "Sign of the Southern Cross" (Black Sabbath "Mob Rules"...ya notice how all the old guard guitar heroes stepped their game up after Randy Rhodes and Eddie VH came on the scene?)Eddie Van Halen "Loss of Control" (Van Halen "Women and Children First")

no particular order, nor all of 'em, just thinking about bad ass guitar solos and wanted to see what the strut favored

Jimi Hendrix "Machine Gun" (OG BOG LP)
(the crazy sustain parts, since the song itself is essentialy a guitar solo)

Harvey Mandel "Cha Cha the Blues" (Charley Musslewhite's South Side Band LP)

Jimmy Page "Je N'Attends Plus Personne" (Francoise Hardy's S/T from 1964)

Frank Zappa "Zombie Woof" (not a huge FZ fan, but damn this solo is killer)

Grant Green "The Matador" (the epitomy of smooth control)

Toni Iommi "Sign of the Southern Cross" (Black Sabbath "Mob Rules"...ya notice how all the old guard guitar heroes stepped their game up after Randy Rhodes and Eddie VH came on the scene?)

Eddie Van Halen "Loss of Control" (Van Halen "Women and Children First")

Let me be the first to say EVH's Beat It solo.

When I was most into electric guitar I had that Duane Allman anthology.
His open guitar riff on Aretha's The Weight. That thing is locked in my head.

Amos Garrett's solo on Midnight At The Oasis.

Elmore James' solos on Floyd Dixon's cuts, on that Atlantic Anthology. (Sorry I haven't owned it for years and am blanking on the song and lp titles. It's in that black cover series with Texas To LA Guitar and Willie McTell.)

yes that is a cool little lick...great tune, wish the 45 wasnt so expensive...I have it on one of those MCA Collections from the 80s

Yeah, me too. I did however pick up a grip of boot/repro 45's of Trio stuff from Norton Records around 12 years ago ... apparently they were a warehouse find from the 70's, and Norton was only asking like $3 apiece, so I do have (fake) 45s of "Train," "Honey Hush," and at least 4 other tracks that I can play out.

    One more solo I forgot:

"Just Like Me" - Paul Revere & the Raiders

...featuring Drake Levin, who died last Saturday of cancer. That's him on the extreme left with the double-necked guitar in the picture...rest in peace, my man...

One solo I love is Kenny H??kansson's on "Solen (Parallellt eller 90 grader)" from the Bo Hansson album "Ur Trollkarlens Hat".

Simple and soaring. The track itself is a fantastic , and Kenny's guitar solo is my favorite part of it.

I always like the guitar solo of The Zombies "Hung Up On a Dream". It's not super , but it compliments the song perfectly. With the Mellotron blended in the background...perfect.
