Sure did hate him when I was younger.
Have learned to respect the Bacharach/David team.
I appreciate a well crafted pop song.

    BAN

That F, F7, FMaj7 cluster at the start of the verse is unfuckwittable

    GOAT melodiies IMHO

It's totally unrighteous to say it out loud, but one of his very best, and well outside of the cool 60s heyday, was 'Arthurs Theme' sung by Christopher Cross.

Of the cool era, DYKTWT San Jose contains a sublime chord change to G7sus that slays every time. My favourite.

    I ride.

BB gets an appreciation thread at least once a year here -- I've even started one of my own before -- but I ride for every one of them. Pop music for the thinking man.

I personally am not familiar with his whole catalog, but I can't front on what I know.

on that whole era, including the OSTs for 'Casino Royale', 'What's New Pussycat' and a grip of amazing pop songs.

I'm no big Fifth Dimension fan, but I've been spinning "One Less Bell To Answer" about five or six times so far, this afternoon. Checked the credits, it was written by none other than...Burt Bacharach and Hal David.

One of the greatest breakup songs of all time. Marilyn McCoo is just tearing shit up.

  • Yes, he's the best.
For the less recognized tunes of this, I've always liked "Hasbrook Heights."

  • i like a lot of what he did with Dionne Warwick.
