Just read on soul source that Funk Bros/Motown drummer Uriel Jones has passed away.Uriel Jones (13 June 1934 - March 24, 2009) was an African-American musician. Jones was a recording session drummer for Motown Records' in-house studio band, the Funk Brothers, during the 1960s and early 1970s.Jones played the drum tracks on successful Motown recordings such as "The Tracks of My Tears" by The Miracles, "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, and "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" by Gladys Knight & the Pips. His influences included Art Blakey and fellow Funk Brother Benny Benjamin. For his Motown recordings, Jones performed on a studio set comprised of Ludwig, Slingerland, Rogers and Gretsch components.RIP to a great drummer.
