Since at least half of the people on the strut are American citizens. What are the personal views from soul-strutters about Barak Obama as president so far?Yes it's too early to say anything about policies and how hes doing running the USA (and the middle east it seems), I was just wondering.

So far I only have one small issue with the Prez

Concentrate on solving the myriad of problems facing us and don't waste any friggin time or money confronting, rebuking or even recognizing that fat POS Rush Limbaugh.

I totally agree, but have to admit this Limbaugh sideshow is very entertaining to watch.

Rush is meant to distract you from a 2,500 point drop in the stock market.

That's not exactly right - Rush is meant to distract you from a broad, aggressive liberal re-structuring of government.

    Haha - you wish.

The market is not reacting to politics.

  • Oh, so the fact that Wall St. has no clothes and American auto companies are taking a bath has nothing to do with that drop?

    Riiiiiight.

It is pretty funny that Obama figured it would be good to tie Limbaugh to the GOP, and Republicans immediately jumped up like, "Here, we'll help with the knot!"

The spectacle of that hack cowering before Limbaugh was hilarious.

I am feeling his swag, and I'm loving that he's actually a little more liberal than I had thought. Kinda blah about the Limbaugh strategy, definitely reeks of "small politics", but it does seem smart, politically.

I am loving the convulsions conservatives are having trying to chicken-little their way out of his tax plans.

Sure his plan cuts taxes to 95% of Americans, but for me, making 250k+, there will be so little incentive to work now that my taxes have gone up 3%, I'll have to layoff my staff and close my successful business. See how your economy likes that!!!

Steele went on DL Hughley's show and described Limbaugh as an entertainer, divisive and his rhetoric as sometimes "ugly". He also reaffirmed himself as the "leader" of the Republican Party. The following day Limbaugh tore him up on his show, after which Steele made a public act of contrition, describing himself as having been "inarticulate" among other things.

The really hilarious part is all these alleged champions of industry (I doubt anybody believes all these right-wing whiners are clocking $250K a year, but let's just pretend for a moment that they are) clearly don't understand how marginal tax rates work and say they're trying to come up with ways to knock their income down to $249,999 as though that's gonna save them big bucks in the long run. It's like a clusterfuck of wrongness.

Yeah Steele - among other prominent Republicans - tried to fire a warning shot across Limbaugh's bow and basically got backed down on national TV and radio and had to come out and play themselves and apologize for even thinking the thought of stepping to him.

It was deliciously pathetic. If the Republican party was the Blair Witch Project, they just threw the map in the river and said "F*ck it, let's just stay in the woods!"

Like I said, shit is decidedly "small politics", but when your (modest) tax increase on people over 250K is clearly about to be put on center stage as some sort of socialist takeover, positioning a corpulent, cigar chompin talk show host with a 40 million dollar contract as the leader of the opposition is just good strategy.

Supposedly the plan was hatched when Carville included Rush's name on a survey and found his negatives were higher than even Rev. Wright. Despite how lowbrow the whole thing seems, the Republicans have been backed into a corner, and Rush is now basically their national leader going into this budget fight.

The point you seem to miss, is that it doesn't reward you for investing in growth above the $250,000 mark - why bother when 1/2 of what you make is going to go to pay for programs that you disagree with. This doesn't effect democratic members of Congress because (1) they are all career civil servants; and (2) they don't pay their taxes anyway.

Rush took 1 college course and then dropped out. That's the dude you want leading your party! A college dropout with a drug problem!

39.6 percent of income over $250K (i.e. from $250,0001 and up) = half?

As a proponent of drug legalization I wanna see the Cartels and Gangstas pay this kind of tax on $250K+.

Of course they'll kill folks before they do that shit.

Like the people in the ABC article, Saba's imaginary small business would pass up 70k in extra profit in order to avoid paying $4,000 in extra taxes going to programs he disagrees with.

Talk about principled, they're willing to sacrifice 70 g's just so people WON'T have health care. Incredible....
