good resource for releases by year?

trying to put a little project together and im looking for a good resource for listings of all albums released on all labels BY YEAR. I.E. - Trying to track down all jazz releases form 1971.Any ideas?

    Osbourne record guides (or was it DisCoveries magazine) tried to put together a list of all records released by year.

    It is not possible.

    For your project you could get a Schwanns guide for every year.
