Listen to track 5, and know there is a God.
chuck rainey had to hide behind a screen so he wouldn't get yelled at for playing slap bass. i love that, because it makes peg bouncy. and purdie's interview is so great, he knows his parts killed it, ego trippin like he ought to.
And on that note, peep Al Green from '72: http://bigozine2.com/roio/?p=135

The Al Green Soul show is available on a bootleg DVD, you can probably get it at the Buena Park show. I think I saw it there once.
Oh man, that is nice. I think I prefer the 'Dan (never was a fan) in instrumental form.
Oh, shit! Erma Franklin backed by The Electric Flag? You're not the only one...
Actually, I think that version of Killing Floor might have been on a Mike Bloomfield anthology which Sony put out. If it's the same one, then it's pretty killer-diller - starts out like some soul/r&b revue version of Crosscut Saw, then they flip it into a kind of Love Supreme thing after the second verse, before bringing the chicken grease back out for the end. I've played it out a few times. Mike Bloomfield was an incredible guitar-player. So, so underrated in the modern age.
