The group was formed in Detroit in 1970 out of the instrumental Funk group The Nite-Liters[/b] by former Motown songwriters and producers Vernon Bullock[/b], Harvey Fuqua [/b]and music industry veteran Tony Churchill[/b]. They are mostly known for their hits I Can Understand It, It's Been a Long Time, Wildflower and Dream Merchant, which featured the Wilson[/b] brothers Melvin[/b] and Leslie[/b], who sung lead on the group's most famed material.Both Melvin and Leslie will appear on Midnight Soulstice [/b]for our two-hour-special on The New Birth [/b]to discuss their music and legacy.
