Shoulda held out for the vocal version!!

To this day, I have never seen an original copy of this record. Anyone on here have one?

  • Over the past month or two, these came from ebay, a mailorder 45 dealer, Freakbeat Records, Rockaway Records and American Pie Records. Not all pics are my personal copies.

    plus

??? Iota: Sing For You / R.I.P. 45 (great early 70s stoner rock)
??? 5 Spiritual tones: Bad Situation 45 (thanks Belson!)
    ??? Dyke & The Blazers: The Wobble/Stuff 45
??? US Smash press of SCOTT WALKER 3.

What does this sound like? The fact that they are named
after a Gram Parsons song intrigues me ...

So is the B&W cover an actual second press or a more recent reissue? I never understood this...

  • that Morgen 45 is SICK. as is Luis Luis of course! Been seeking that one so long i cant even remember..

anyway, the "xmas finds" thread seemed more focused on gifts and expedits, so im going here with these grabs from a seemingly endless collection ive been getting first crack at. deceased long time radio DJ who worked numerous stations and apparently knew what to slip home in his breifcase for personal use!

also some fun rap stuff in the 1st 2 pix from a diff collection.

45s mostly from the DJ guy but with some others mixed in. most are unplayed!

  • wow!! there's some pretty heavy stuff in this thread!! - i like that KALEIDOSCOPE - "bernice" record...

here's my stuff from the last few weeks - a couple of online buys, some gifts, a few charities and had a very succesful trip to Ben's Collectors records in Guildford (as always!)

"live for life" OST (a few nice uptempo tracks with silly noises)
HALLO 4 (nothign i would play out on this one, but a collection of interesting and/or fun german prog)
"Z" OST (spare - has the killer 'psyche-rock' esque "cafe rock" - -heavy bells!)
WARM DUST - "peace for our times" (awesome uk jazz prog - cantebury sounding at times, with Timothy Leary given a spoken intro to each track)
JACK BRUCE (great prog/folk/jazz etc.. album. really fun listen)
BEEFHEART - "safe as milk" (to replace my marble arch copy that didnt have the best song - "grown so ugly"!)
Mercury records sampler (lots of fun funky / heavy prog stufff on here. includes breakz and arrtwork by KEEF!)
MICHEAL POLNAREFFF - "lipstick" ost (way too disco-y for me but has some fun electronics on)
JIM PEPPER (some lovely spiritual jazz sounding stuff on the first side - goes off the boil on the second side for me)
    JOSE FELICIANO (not listened)
SHADOWS - "rarities" (contains the dancefloor smasher "scotch on the socks", plus a coupld of other 'library funk' sounding bits - couldnt leave it for 2 quid)
TROLLSKOG (crazy baroque folk fusion thing)

the WALKER BROS has a great cover of "land of 1000 dances", and THE TROGGS is a dodgy live album with face melting watercolour artwork.
enjoying the NANCY & LEE alot - "sand" is a brilliant song.

    plusd a stack of 45's:

COEUR MAGIQUE - "le cocotier" (french afro prog - b-side is brilliant)
FURIA - "solamente tu" (ace spanish glam business - excellent drums)
LOS MISMOS - "pasa el tren" (funky spanish number - catchy)
MANFRED MANN - "the one in the middle" ep (nice cover of 'watermelon man')
SHADOWS - "scotch on the socks" (finally - -dancefloor track that im sure most people know)
CEDARS - "for your information" (super excellent sitar psych pop track)
CCS - "hang it on me" (their funkiest number?)
RAMSEY LEWIS - "soul man" (lovely soul jazz version)
THEM -"baby please dont go / gloria"
QUILLER - "quiller" (not my cup of tea but couldnt leave it for 25p)
ROY WOOD - "premium bond theme" (vannier-esque charity shop orch rock!)
WIZZARD - "you got the jump on me" (heavy drums - i like this one)
HOLLIES - "look through any window" (nice sitar-y track)
NEIL MACARTHUR - "she's not there" (nice downer version of the zombies song)
    MAR-KEYS - "last night" (bottom theme tune:D)
SLADE - "candidate" (another great slade b-side)
DEL SHANNON - "the swiss maid" (some tasty fuzz on this daft song)
OSMONDS - "hold her tight" (heavy rocking osmonds- glad to find it on a 45)
QUEEN - "football fight" (crazy queen b-side...jamesF alerted me to this)
WIZZARD - "bend over beeethoven" (nice dusty fingers-style beat track)
BILL COSBY -"hooray for the salvation army band" (great fun hendrix rip-off)
