b, 21b, 21I need a job like this. How the F*ck do you get into this business?
I think Jason Alexander did the first 3 seasons but I know Garth Trinidad from KCRW was in place for at least 1 or 2 seasons; looks like they've changed things up again. b, 21b, 21PUTS wasn't the only folks to get placement this past season. So did Strut's own Captain Planet. b, 21b, 21Too bad this season sucked shit though.

b, 21b, 21I've spoken to quite a few music supervisors, including the guy who did all five seasons of The Wire and Disney/Pixar's current music supe and the long and short is this: there's no single path. It's pretty random how people fall into place. It obviously helps to know a lot about music and have a good ear but there's not really a "path." It comes down to (surprise, surprise) who you know and being in the right place at the right time. b, 21b, 21Also, I've been told universally: there are parts to the job which are fun but the vast bulk of it is paperwork and lawyers. img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icegrill.gif" alt="" /1

b, 21b, 21was there a good season? b, 21b, 21h, 21
b, 21b, 21I enjoyed the first 2-3 seasons but once the Pablo Escobar movie came into play, I felt like the show lost whatever thin narrative threads held it together. At this point, I watch to enjoy Ari and Lloyd and that's about it.
I watch it because I like to location spot. I came across them filming when I went for a night jog by the club on my block. The whole possee was in a black suv with a sick ass camera mount in the hood. Pretty nice setup.
I was outside that club when they filmed the comedy scene from the nutty professor. if you look really close you can't see me at all. This was of course way back in the 90s, but I remember asking the lady "hey what are you guys shooting?" and the lady said "The Nutty Professor" and I said "Isn't that already a movie?" and she turned around and walked away. I didn't know that Eddie was going to be in it. Fond memories, I guess.
I interned over the summer for Hum Music, another music supervision company here in LA. It seems that to get within the industry as a supervisor its all about connections, it also seems that a great majority of the work in this town is done by the KCRW DJ's. Tricia Halloran, Gary Collomar, Garth Trinidad, Nic Harcourt, etc. it's a small field but yes it is fun and yes it does involve lots of phonecalls to publishers and lawyers.b, 21b, 21If I had the chance to jump in I'd do it in a secondb, 21b, 21PS I watch Entourage to remind myself that I am not a douche
I'm still buggin' after learning that the character of Ari Gold is based off of Ari(el) Emanuel, Obama's Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel's Beverly Hills talent agent brother. The dude represents Larry David, Michael Moore, and Mark Whalburg, which completes the circle. b, 21b, 21That's hard.
i've enjoyed this season. (although last night's episode was weak)b, 21b, 21almost anything they put out would be better than last season though i guess
