We had the first snowfall of the season last night and it was really beautiful. My new neighbourhood has huge trees and you know how good they look covered in snow. I put on Them Changes because I really felt like hearing you do Down By The River and ended up listening to the whole thing twice in a row. I hadn't done that in a while. b, 21b, 21I am sure you heard this many, many times, but it really is an amazing record. I can't think of another record that manages to sound bright and clean and wide open, at the same time fuzzy and dense and immediate like Them Changes does. And oh the horns! That chewy-chewy organ! Listening to it is like that small window of buoyancy right in-between sober and drunk where everything is so defined and wrapped in a feathery blanket. b, 21b, 21It'll be one year of your passing in a few months, I hope there will be snow where you are.b, 21b, 21Sincerely,b, 21Bassie

i always thought the sound of buddy miles records is terrible. like a garage band playing in their garage but being recorded outside the garage. i love buddy miles, but the records sound strange. i wish there were better pressings or recordings of his music.
