i need some spice in my life and the ol' PMC-05 is only good for so much. who here has/has used one? is there a fine line between it and the 1620 reissue? i'm leanin towards the Rane.b, 21b, 21b, 21plaese discuss.

  • God, I hate that mixer. Then again, I'm not an "UNTZ-UNTZ-UNTZ" type of DJ. b, 21b, 21There's a club here in SF (Club 6) that's had one in their main room forever. The one saving grace is that it's stacked with another unit that at least has a crossfader. b, 21b, 21Then again, if you're looking at rotaries, you're probably not looking for opinions from DJs like me.b, 21b, 21I will say, though, that it seems odd to go from a Vestax 05 to this. Not sayin' that you're a tripleclickflareallday type, but still...what do you have against up and down faders?

If it's more than 2 channels that you seek, the Rane Empath is really nice. And they have a model that is rotary on the line faders and has a crossfader too.b, 21b, 21I really like Allen & Heath mixers but getting mine repaired is proving to be a nightmare. With Rane you just mail it to them, and they often fix it for free.

b, 21b, 21I've had mine for about 5 years and I'm very happy with it. 3 channels w/ 2 inputs each, 3 different outputs, crossfader flexibility, sounds great, and built like a tank - I've never had a single technical problem with it. I spent around $800 and it was worth every penny.

b, 21b, 21i feel like sometimes i'm only limited to 10.. and when i need that extra "UNTZ," i wish i could go to 11. and don't give me that "you should make 9 the highest" either. extra channels would be nice too.b, 21b, 21that and furking with EQ'ing schitt and knocking the song/soundsystem off balance is annoying. made for tiny qbert hands.b, 21b, 21

  • Oh, please don't think I'm defending the 05. That's a shitty mixer for, well, mixing.b, 21b, 21And massive cosignature on the Empath. Really nice and sounds great.b, 21b, 21Out of curiosity, have you considered the Rane MP 44?

b, 21b, 21yeah i have here and there, but something just tells me keep the 05 for fonk, rap dee rap, all of the above; buy the ro-try for gay "UNTZ"b, 21b, 21b, 21/font1Quote:/font1h, 21b, 21the eqs on any rane a re far superior to all vestax mixersb, 21b, 21h, 21b, 21b, 21this shouldn't even need to be pointed out. you can eq schitt all day on a vestax and it sounds way too cold & forced.

I played in vegas with DJ Homicide (Sugar Ray) few weeks ago. I came on after him and when I walked in the booth he turned around and told me the mixer sucked and was a piece of shit and thats why he was so wack. I looked down and it was a dope ass rotary mixer. I was not mad at all.

Rane dude... just get a Rane. It's a no-brainer really.

  • Photobucketb, 21b, 21b, 21ive heard from some of the biggest djs doing it....this mixer is the truth.b, 21b, 21if your a dj that plays all genres like myself ...you need a fader. slamming records or doing doubles is just not fun with rotarys...playing dance music on a mixer that only has a fader is wack.b, 21b, 21swappable face plate for rotary's if you want. eqs for each channel ( unlike bozack/urei, where you need crossovers for each channel) granted they are analog.b, 21b, 21im thinking of copping this or dj deeps custom built portable urei.

b, 21b, 21It is. We had one at the spot I used to play at on Fridays and I was the ONLY dj that liked/loved it. They switched it out for a Rane ttm56. I asked what they did with it and they said the owner took it home.
