Those fools just had an increase a few months back!b, 21There's not much we can. DHL is done. FED EX is increasing shit and UPS is acting like USPS now and not delivering things on time. img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/weaksauce.gif" alt="" 21
The USPS has been the a source of income for the US government for the past few years since they've started to increase stamps so frequently. I don't buy this poverty cry at all. It's to fill in governmental budget gaps.

b, 21b, 21Sure it will. They'll find a way to adapt.b, 21b, 21And we all just need to get used to the fact that EVERYTHING is just going to cost more money.
Does the USPS' profits go into the government coffers? I always thought they were an independent entity, neither funded (nor funding) government budgets.
I believe Bush might've changed that. My postal insider postmaster was telling me when the post office has been one of the few profitable things the government does, and when stamp prices are increased, it's like shaking a piggy bank for extra change. I'm not sure how their business is structured, but I believe it is indirect linkage and money flow.

b, 21b, 21you are correct sir.b, 21b, 21dad/grandfather both have/had decades of work under the USPS, so I am more familiar with the inner dealings of the PO than i prefer to be.

b, 21b, 21someone correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think this is true. I can see teachers, but fireman and policeman get paid decent money. b, 21b, 21I actually looked into being a mailman recently, and just working in the post office, but it didn't pay as well as I thought. It started at the low thirties. The perk is that you get good benefits and I think a really good pension.b, 21b, 21Jobs I've always wanted to do since I was a kid:b, 21b, 21-mailmanb, 21-garbage man (as an adult I still feel like I'd do it, but only for one year)b, 21-train engineerb, 21b, 21I'm not as excited about being a mailman anymore, but I would sure love to drive a train.
