The Oregonian is now calling the Oregon senate race for Democrat Merkley, replacing Gordon Smith. There will be no Republican Senator on the West Coast. (Unless you include Alaska.)

    The only downside of this outcome is that Smith will be the heavy favorite to take the governorship in 2010.
