    I get the yeeeeesh feeling around these series (LR & OG). One one hand, Buckwheat and the other African-American kids aren't exactly the butt of too many jokes (that would almost always be Alfalfa), and the schoolhouses are fully integrated (!), so in that respect, those series are fairly forward-looking (to say nothing of girls and boys in one schoolroom). Or maybe that's because all the blackface-and-watermelon scenes have been excised. It must also be said that the actors that portrayed the African-American children have defended the show (and creator Hal Roach) on their merits.b,121Yet I still don't feel good watching it. There are obvious stereotypes that unnerve me. Am I too Libralmatized?b,121b,121b,121b,121That said:b,121b,121/font1

I didn't even make it through a whole episode in three tries, it had aged so horribly. I can only think that the Flinstones would meet the same fate.

George Jetson's crew was just too normal by comparison.

    I liked that one Our Rascals short where they had the talent show in the classroom...Stymie played a harmonica solo (DeFord Bailey, he wasn't), and Tommy (later known as Butch) sang a bizarre acapella version of "Just Friends" that strangely enough sounded just like Captain Beefheart...

    Little Rascals would come on after school in the early 80's everyday except Sunday for a good 3 years.b,121b,121I own a VHS w/ maybe Leonard Marlton who breaks down the history of the episodes presented. Good ass shit.b,121b,121I realize during the 80 big PC movement that the LR were considered "old" but as a kid watching the 40's kids do thier thang...i could connect it to Fat Albert and other stuff.

    font class="post"1b,121b,121Where I grew up, one of the stations used to show a i1Stooges/Rascals Hour[/i]...a Stooges short, a Rascals short, and another Stooges thing, in that order...and sure enough, the Stooges featurettes with Curly were frontloaded at the beginning of the show...they saved the Shemp/Joe flicks for the end of the show (at which point I turned the teevee off - Curly man to the bone, I was).
