Is it confirmed now? I've been in denial thusfar. b,121b,121I know it's the natural cycle of things and these are the artists of a certain era, their age means passing on. But the lack of artists putting out soulful music to act as a balance for all these losses is what makes it so difficult.b,121b,121The evening sun went downb,121All over townb,121I'm sitting all alone b,121Feeling so blue, just because b,121You bring me joy in the morning
DAMN! My favorite purchase from this past weekends Austin Record Show was an Alton Ellis LP. Been bumping it hard and will give it a memorial spin as soon as I get home.b,121b,121RIP
I am hearing both. As of this morning it was unconfirmed and there is nothing the the Gleaner, etc. even now. But others heard it on the radio last night? I hope it's not true and he pulls through to health and strength.
Listen up!b,121b,121Early this morning on a UK radio station there was an announcement that Alton Ellis had died. Me, like many others, forwarded the messege as we know how he is loved by so many. This rumor was NOT true. He is still very much alive. I would like to make an official apology on my part for forwarding this rumor. I wasnt the only one who heard it and see many others forwarded the same thing and heard the same announcement. We hope that Mr Ellis gets well soon and out deepest regrets if this false rumor had reached you.

"We can't say we are hoping for the best in this situation. The family is looking for the worst," Clive said regretfully. "He is gasping for air. He is not talking, he is not moving, I don't think he is going to come out on top of this fight." Clive said the family was still trying to keep strong in these difficult times.b,121b,121He said his father has been in the hospital for a number of weeks, battling lymphatic cancer. Rumours started circulating yesterday that Alton Ellis had died. However, family members dispelled the gossip. Clive noted: "He (Alton) isn't gone, he is still here. I'm actually in the hospital now, he is very weak, but he is not gone (dead)."b,121b,121Alton Ellis, a father of 15 children, came to the fore of Jamaican music in the 1950s and has since made his mark with hits such as Cry Tough and Girl I've Got A Date among others.b,121b,121The vocalist's first wife, Pearl, and his sister, Hortense, both died on October 19, in 2005 and 2000, respectively.b,121b,121Tragedy also struck the Ellis family earlier this year when Alton's sister, Veronica Ellis, was brutally murdered just before Mother's Day, along with her teenage grandson."

font class="post"1b,121b,121My thoughts exactly. Rest in Peace.
one of my favorite shows i've ever seen was seeing Alton at a Coffee bar in LDN... a free show, not much press about it, flyers at record stores... his son djed and spun version sides of all his 7"s and Alton killed it... just destroyed the room, the whole place singing on "Lalala means i love you" and "i'm just a guy"... he just had a really wonderful energy...
