Pressing Question - Dennis Alcapone

So, I don't know a damn thing about reggae. And I don't know a damn thing about how to differentiate between reggae pressings. So, I have what appears to be a later pressing of Dennis Alcapone - Forever Version on Coxsone. Instead of1white labels, it has yellow labels with the red Studio One "1". Any care to knowledge me on when this was pressed? My own reggae skillz are strictly lil-dude but I recall going through the crates of a sound system last year at a wedding and nearly all of 'em were yellows.b,121b,121My requests for Errol Dunkley were fruitless...

    font class="post"1b,121b,121I think it's a little bit of both.1b,121b,121The smell test suggests my copy is at least 20 years old, but that still leaves a nice 17-year period when it could have been pressed.

    Knowing JA, it probably means they ran out of paper for the labels...

    The red/yellow "1" label is out of Brooklyn NY circa 1980-83 or so. It is not the original but IMO is preferable to some originals because the pressings do sound good generally, sometimes leagues better than their JA counterparts.b,121b,121Sometimes it's worse.b,121b,121Either way, with some exceptions those pressings are worth $20-30 pretty standard and are a great way to collect the albums without having to shell out for something that sounds like weed stems line the grooves.

    This thread made me pull out my copy. It has the black and white label, but I reallt don't think it's pre-1980 press. Was there a later pressing that went back to the OG label?b,121b,121It seems they just did kind of whatever the hell they wanted with these represses, so who knows.
