Whether it's from the early days when it struggled to gain recognition as a 'true' art form, or the digital fakery one that's going on today. b,121b,121It's just a medium, it can be used and abused, rightly or wrongly. IMO Crewdson creates thoughtful, beautiful images, and that's all that really matters.b,121b,121Two of the other photographers I posted also digitally manipulate their work. Gursky sometimes uses it to make his images even more repetitive, and Gregor Graf has removed all the sings, text, markings, from his photographs digitally. b,121b,121b,121If you want realism, Magnums' site has some amazing documentary photography. b,121b,121Check out their a href="http://inmotion.magnumphotos.com/podcasts" target="_blank"1'podcasts'/a1

Photography heads should pick up the latest issue of b,121Black & White magazine. b,121b,121My friend Nancy Abens is featured. b,121http://www.bandwmag.com/ b,121b,121I still find her stuff to have a lot more humanity than minimalist/surrealist stuff that is so popular right now.

why do people try and copy-protect there websites? don't they know it's virtually impossible?b,121b,121b,121feed://web.me.com/nabens/Site_2/Portfolios/Pages/Portraits_files/rss.xmlb,121b,121etc, etc...b,121b,121b,121btw- pretty solid photos, but i wouldn't go as far as saying one of the best. although i am impressed how little of a 'footprint' she leaves when she touches them up digitally. i think it's all too easy to take it overboard when shooting digital w/ retouching.

Jennifer Baichwal is a good documentary filmmkaer. She also did the a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0334548/" target="_blank"1Shelby Lee Adams doc.

Anyone know the name of the photographer who did those beautiful b&w microscopic photos of plants? Whole leaves and such? I think they're from the 30s or 40s - a little more art than science. I know, not much to go on...
