Kind of hard to beat Hawaii, but Montana is incredible as well.

  • Not Nebraska or Texas. Sorry guys.b,121b,121Vermont is one of the prettiest on the east coast. Lots of rolling fields, trees, small towns, and very little strip-mall sprawl.

I've been to 47 of the 50 states, and the most jaw dropping moments have been in Colorado.b,121b,121Arizona, Montana, Oregon, and Kentucky all all beautiful as well.b,121b,121But I haven't been to Hawaii or Alaska and I'm sure both of those would be near the top.

I don't about "pretty" but the red earth and the canyons and insane rock formations created by the hand of a giant child and that you can see showers and rainbows miles and miles away blew my mind in Arizona. You get to see raw geography, the bones of the planet kind of thing.b,121b,121Otherwise, I'll take the opposite and say wet, green and wild Louisiana.

  • California has every terrain imaginable; no matter what you like you'll find it here: farmland, sunny beaches, foggy beaches, deciduous forest, evergreen forest, redwoods, sand dunes, temperate rain forest, mountains, lakes, desert, rivers, rolling hills, orchards, vineyards, small town loveliness, unique rock formations, insane wildlife, meadows, bays, estuaries, ponds, etc.b,121b,121I guess we are lacking in the tropical department (Hawaii) and the big sky/flat plain thing they have going on in Montana and Wyoming....

Co-sign on Cali, of course.b,121b,121PCH from LA to SF is a drive everyone has to do before death.

  • Cosine on Colorado.b,121b,121Top of the first foothill that the Red Rocks ampitheater faces is a great spot. Look east, nothing but flat. Look west, snow capped rockies. The wind shaped sandstone structures out there were mind numbing for a North Easterner like myself. And those mountains are biiiiig. When you're used to calling those bumps in Vermont mountains, Colorado is a wake up call.b,121b,121Southwestern Colorado is also incredible. When you're in the desert and can see the Rockies lining the horizon ... iz nice.b,121b,121I hitchhiked through Colorado in the late 90s (then onto Arizona, the Cali coast and up to Portland). Amazing state.

Met somebody who's been to all fiddy and he said Oregon, he was from LBC himself.b,121b,121I suspect the US of A is too large to take in in one lifetime...

font class="post"1b,121b,121I was thinking the same thing about Cali. You really do have everything. From desert to some damned big[gest] trees to everything in between. Yosemite alone scores Cali huge points in this state beauty contest. Everywhere you look is postcard pretty.

  • I'd almost say Maine... but Colorado and California are both winners too... as are New Mexico and Arizona.

  • Texas, has the coast, the desert, the mountains, the plains, the river1valley, the women...

font class="post"1b,121b,121Definitely. I love it more and more each time I go up to snowboard. I dream of one day buying something up there, having a place in the middle of nowhere.

I have been having a really strong desire to escape to nature but everything is hot and dry in SoCal. I'd have to drive my ass off to get somewhere where the dirt is dark and moist and the mornings are cool and the air is fresh...b,121b,121The irony of it all is that I work in one of the most beautiful places on earth (the edge of point loma) and still I am bored with it and want a change of scenery.

The thing about hawaii is that I hate humidity... I grew up in Bakersfield... I need my air to be extra dry....

  • damn the US is an insanely beautiful country.b,121b,121and to think how many US residents/visitors to the US never leave the cities.

Yeah Utah is beautiful too. All our family vacations were in the southwest, so I'm interested in the Northeast now.

  • Driving through Hudson Valley, The Catskills, and the Berkshires in the fall is some of the most beautiful scenery I've experienced on the east coast. b,121b,121Also, Long Island has some real nice spots, from spring through fall (nowinterplsthx)
