as some of you know i collect rap. it is really all i collect nowadays minus the occasional LP that i enjoy!!b,121b,121after filling up a lot of holes in my collection i have began to enter the seedy (sometimes expensive) world of random rap (as eBay weirdos call it)b,121b,121what i have found is some awesome music! some really awesome music that gives some classic stuff a run for its money!!b,121b,121in an early 90s world there were tons of rap acts (some of which were garbage) yet it seems most of them got play. rap acts were being signed left and right...b,121b,121but all these dudes who fell by the waist side are killing my head right now!b,121b,121Raw Materialb,121Down N Dirty Tribeb,121The Sons Of Sam (sick song i am NOT trying to spend $400 on GROSS)b,121b,121i have done a lot of research and seen a lot of pieces but with so many names out there it is hard to find new material...b,121b,121anyone have anything they can recommend? things that they may have just seen and think they only own? b,121b,121blogs are a great source but sometimes they dont even scratch the surface!b,121b,121-chris

  • DJ Anonymous posted a really great mix a while back, with some essentials for the genre. b,121b,121I will admit, I need to step up my "random rap" game as well...If anyone else has a mix please share.

Yo I don't know how into the Bay Area y'all are, but peep Young Gee's EP on Sick Side...or both APG Crew LPs...or if you want to be a baller the 800 Money 12-inch.b,121b,121That Muro / K-Prince tape is essential, especially the K-Prince side.

font class="post"1b,121b,121Let's get this party started...b,121b,121I cleaned out a DJ from Philly that was in the record game when hiphop started. He had tons of good stuff including private Philly stuff. Just to add a little to the Philly list...b,121b,121Sha'Dasciousb,121Legion of Doomb,1212 Kannonb,121Divine Beingsb,121b,121I actually have doubles of the 2 Kannon and Divine Beings if anyone is interested. Absolutely AWESOME tracks...what hiphop should be. I've been thinking of throwin a mixtape together and would definitely like to collab with some peeps... If not...just to discuss records.b,121b,121b,121Best advice about 'random rap' ...wait. I had been after a record, Poetic Menace, from Detroit for a long time and kept being the second highest bidder on numerous auctions, dropping bids at $300+. After a couple went on ebay...I finally copped a copy at $140. The random rap market is just...well...random...

font class="post"1b,121b,121For anyone who never caught it here's a set I did on WBAI in '03 as the random rap thing was starting to gain steam. I think J Smooth reads off the playlist towards the end.b,121b,121 a href="http://www.zshare.net/download/1906038292ca8da2/" target="_blank"1ENJOY!/a1
