  • The Eagles have some great tunes, though I realize this is the wrong forum to say so. Lately I keep playing Randy Meisner's "Try and Love Again" over and over, with its Walsh-played twangy Gretsch guitar. What a song.

font class="post"1b,121b,121Plus, you could be a band called James Gang and then name your album Bang/b1 and get away with it before the moral police jumped on you.b,121b,121The Eagles are just one of those groups that have become "the fabric of Americana", although the James Gang had more balls, musically. Or at least they were more gritty, and that isn't to take away anything from The Eagles at all.

  • I ride for the first three James Gang albums (first especially which is excellent) and verious and sundry early Eagles. Frey and Henley are repugnant, yet occasionally capable of some excellent music.

Not only have I always liked the Eagles just fine (despite long-since growing utterly sick of songs like Hotel California and Life in the Fast Lane), but as of late I've been listening to country music more than I ever have in my life by choice. And I'm not talking about hipster country music. I'm talking about turning the car stereo to the cheesy country station and not only leaving it there, but wholly enjoying it as the proper soundtrack to traveling the Texas Hill Country.

Oh my.b,121b,121b,121Well the eagles sorta reminds me of being a kid, so I ride.

I'm also Soft By Nature, so that doesn't help.b,121b,121Music like the eagles sometimes helps to soothe the fiery rage that burns inside of me. b,121b,121b,121Also I like songs I can sing along too.

I'll turn up some Take It Easy. But Desperado makes me want to commit senseless acts of extreme violence.

I expected a response like that. But when you hear the song called "Take it easy" and you have the opposite response, does that mean that they have failed as artists?b,121b,121No, it just means you need to fusking take it easy there, hater.

Who sings "Try and Love Again" off Hotel California? Is that Walsh or Meisner? Love that tune.

Ironically Hotel California is in my list of top ten MOST HATED SONGS EVAR. I fusking hate that song so bad.

font class="post"1b,121b,121It's Meisner.b,121b,121I like the Glenn Frey ballads, "Take It to the Limit," and the late-night coming-down-off-coke resigned vibes of "I Can't Tell You Why."b,121b,121a href="" target="_blank"1

  • And judging by all the evidence and anecdotes, Don Henley is a world-class dickwad so uptight he shits diamonds.b,121b,121Did anyone hear Don Felder's interview on Stern? Seemed like a chill dude.

font class="post"1b,121b,121Well, if you're into country music, shouldn't you be listening to it? Rather than some lame substitute like the Eagles? (((grin)))

  • I am slowly easing up my hate on the Eagles, "I Can't Tell You Why" (which is written and sung by the dude who was in Poco) is indeed a great song.b,121b,121Joe Walsh fuckin shreds though.b,121b,121embed src="" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"1/embed1

As a kid I was fascinated by the lyrics of Hotel California... for some reason it felt like they were also describing the movie 'The Shining'... don't ask me why...b,121Now of course, I can't stand the fusking song, it gets overplayed too much.

The Eagles are technically good but I can't stand that country croosover stuff.b,121b,121Joe Walsh is killer. When I practiced guitar as a teen I was playing Joe Walsh songs NOT Eagles songs.b,121b,121He was on the Drew Carey show when they were auditioning guitar players for their band and that was pretty funny.b,121b,121Did Joe have a stroke or is it just all the drugs and alch that makes him talk funny?
