Hey Dudes (and Dudettes),b,121b,121I'm not typically the sample-spottin' type, but for years I've wondered what Dilla chopped for "Shake it Down" (Track 14) from the "Welcome to Detroit" CD. I had the thought that it was "Lovin' You" by Minnie Riperton, but I think that's incorrect. Anyone know the answer? Holla!!!b,121b,121Peace,b,121b,121Big Stacks from Kakalak

  • !!!b,121b,121I've always wondered this. I want to say it's the Bee Gee's. The liner notes say something to the effect of him sampling some HUGE ass song.

b,121b,121Yeah YP,b,121b,121I took the challenge he gave to us "beatheads" in the liner notes to guess the sample source. I just could never come up with it. When I unpack my vinyls, I have to do some diggin' (and maybe choppin') to put my finger on it. The sample spot challenge he gave for "Give it Up" was much easier ("Papa Was Too" and "Pride and Vanity"; incredible chopwork, though!!!).b,121b,121Peace,b,121b,121Big Stacks from Kakalak

  • My 2LP copy of Welcome 2 Detroit has no linear notes. Is there anywhere on the internet where they are reproduced? I'd love to read his notes on the tracks.b,121b,121Cheers

b,121b,121I've always wondered where this comes from - it shouldn't even sound the same as liners but I've seen it online so many times in so many places I figured there must be some kind of reason or logic behind it... anyone?
